Heirloom Cakes
"A great empire, like a great cake, is most easily diminished at the
edges".
-Benjamin Franklin
Oh Ben, you smarty-pants, you!

I say, "Let us not diminish our great country by eating bad cake."

There Ben, whaddaya think of that?

Friends, let me tell you something about America and cake-

We rock the cake here in the U.S.  Really.  Why do you think cake is a centerpiece to every one of our
celebrations?  Yup.  That's it.  Because it
used to be so good.  So symbolic of prosperity, and happiness,
and good times - towering and regal on it's pedestal.  Something has happened here in the U.S.,
though. Something TRAGIC!  Our cake has been reduced to chemical-laden slabs of tasteless cardboard,
and that makes me mad! So I'm bringin' the good stuff back.  The ancestors.  The good guys.

It's a revolution, people.  Cake lovers....UNITE!

Victorian Chocolate Cake
A moist, light chocolate cake, with a mild spice.
Creamy-smooth, mousse-like French Silk icing is
sandwiched between all four layers, and ices this
gorgeous concoction.
Serves 16. $55
My absolute favorite cake of all time!  Flavor and
texture like you've never experienced..
Thick, moist, spicy layers are stacked and filled with
amazing cream cheese frosting.  Boiled caramel icing,
crumbly and sweet, rolls down the sides of this
amazing treat.
Serves 16.  $45.

Poplar Grove Plantation Peanut Cake
Martha Washington's Cake
Researched in-person at Mount Vernon, this is the
miniature version of Martha Washington's Great Cake (the
original is four-times as big!).  A creamy, light,
sherry-based fruitcake, boasting golden raisins, currants
and apricots.  Covered with a generous layer of boiled icing
- just like divinity....soo divine!  Serves 12.  $45
For the confirmed peanut 'nut'.  This cake was created in
honor of the Poplar Grove Plantation, former peanut
plantation and site of our Heirloom Cake photoshoot.
Three moist, thick layers of peanut butter cake are filled
with a decadent honey-peanut sauce.  The whole tower is
iced with a poured caramel and brown sugar icing.
Gloriously peanutty!  Serves 16.  $35
The Lord's Lady, this towering cake makes a statement of
grace, beauty and divine elegance.  Four creamy, white
layers are filled with a delicious filling of maraschino
cherries, currants and pecans.  Iced with beautiful, shiny
boiled icing and garnished with a lovely layer of pecan
halves!  So elegant!  Serves 16. $50
I'm so excited about this cake!  Two whole, fresh coconuts are
baked, broken, grated and incorporated into this cake.  Truly,
a labor of love!  It doesn't get any better (or more authentic)
than this.  So delicious.  So moist. Cake at it's finest!
Coconut cake is layered with boiled icing and coconut, iced with
more boiled icing and covered with a luxurious layer of more
fresh coconut.  Not for the faint-of-heart!
Serves 16.  $65
Named for the 'real' Lord Baltimore, a colonial leader, this
cake is a decadent, tall, lemony and fruity concoction,
fitting of anyone in velvet knee-breeches.  Moist lemon
cake is filled with a beautiful mixture of maraschino
cherries, coconut, and almonds.  Amazing!  Iced with shiny,
smooth boiled icing and garnished with toasted, sliced
almonds.  Serves 16.  $55
Authentic Lane Cake!  A coconutty, citrusey, fruity
filling is sandwiched between decadent layers of
creamy, moist, white cake.  Fluffy, shiny, boiled icing
is this cake's crowning glory.
Serves 16.  $50
Researched in-person at Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia,
this is truly the finest orange cake you will ever taste!
Served on the tables of our early leaders, this cake is
comprised of a beautiful and mingling medly of Madeira
wine, fresh oranges and rich pecans.  Orange-wine
buttercream tops this cake in a lavish layer of decadence.
Don't miss this culinary (and historic) experience.
Serves 12. $35
